Job Application Manual
All the experience in the world will count for nothing if you can’t sell yourself to recruiters. Follow a proven step-by-step process and nail your next job application.
On the Monday following my final exam I walked into Cricket Australia as a full-time employee. Now I’m sharing with you the exact process I used to prepare myself for the applications that have sky-rocketed my career.
After completing the manual you will:
Feel confident at every point of applying and interviewing for jobs, from conducting your research to planning your exit strategy
Know how to deliver a ‘Personal Pitch’ that clearly articulates your ambition, and answers their questions in advance
Be able to fluently appeal to a recruiter by understanding what sporting organisations are looking for and how you match it
Consistently produce a tailored cover letter, CV and ‘Personal Pitch’ based on smart data points collected in the job description and research
Be able to succinctly and impressively answer any question by knowing how to best script your responses
Understand every aspect of your work experience and be able to call on your strongest example in every question
Know how to sell yourself by focusing 5 key elements that demonstrate your capacity to fill the role, and your potential to do it better than anyone else
Job applications are a skill. Just like playing any sport is a skill. You wouldn’t skip all of pre-season training and expect to win in round one. The same applies to job applications. Do not wait until the job becomes available to begin preparing for it.
The process to complete the manual takes 2 weeks to fully grasp. Please DO NOT buy it if you’re looking for a quick fix. However, if you’re looking to making a significant increase to the quality of your applications over the next few months that will stick with you for the rest of your life, then this product is for you.
People ask me all the time “what’s the number one skill I should be working on for my career?” It’s not another Google Certificate or S&C short course, it’s your application capability.
All the experience in the world counts for nothing if you can’t sell yourself to recruiters. The best bit is, very few people are aware of this.
Show recruiters what you’re really capable of and land the job of your dreams.

If there's one reason why I would recommend Sportsgrad over any other career development service I've received in the past, it would be due to the fact that you'll actually learn how to portray your experiences and sell yourself in a way that it is impossible for the employer to reject you.
Although I low-key wish nobody else knew the industry secrets Reuben shares, I highly recommend this service whether you're looking at landing your first full-time job or taking your career to the next level!
The sessions I've had with Reuben have helped me stay confident and optimistic at every stage of the job application since I know what to expect, almost placing me at the same page as the employer. I would definitely recommend these sessions to students and new graduates as well as anyone else who are looking to ace job applications at top organisations in the sports industry.
The sessions were extremely insightful and personalised in nature, unlike most other sessions I had been to in the past. Ample time was provided by Reuben to understand my concerns about my resume and cover letter preparation, which helped me focus on details which I had earlier missed out.
The real-life job scenarios shared with me were also helpful as it helped me gauge the general sense of skills and experience top employers look for these days, and how to highlight these in my job application. The Interview session was quite helpful too as it made me work on my overall communication and presentation skills in an in-depth yet seamless manner.
I remember how I was able to land a contract with Kayo immediately after the sessions I had with Reuben. Following, I also landed a few more interviews with top state sport organisations - again, thanks to a solid application letter which Reuben's involvement helped me put together.
Reuben's sessions also came in handy whenever I networked with other professionals in the industry, with one such experience leading to a contract with Cricket Australia. I would attribute this to Reuben's thorough understanding of the sport industry and his transparency in imparting the same to young graduates like me.
