I started SportsGrad in my final year of study as the dedicated resource to careers in sport I wish I had when I started uni.
I was spending so much time cold messaging people on LinkedIn to pick their brains over coffee, but found that I was very much alone in doing this. Over time, I found that pretty much every student was looking for the same sort of insight I was getting first hand from people inside the likes of the AFL, Cricket Australia, the Big Bash League, Hawthorn Football Club, Melbourne Football Club, FIBA and the International University Sports Federation.
Eventually I decided that this was information every student needs to hear.
So I packed up my Mum’s digital camera with my Dad’s first tripod he took travelling in 1990 (unbelievable they worked together), and headed over to the US to start capturing the insights of sport management professionals.
Fast forward to today, and…

The sessions I've had with Reuben have helped me stay confident and optimistic at every stage of the job application since I know what to expect, almost placing me at the same page as the employer. I would definitely recommend these sessions to students and new graduates as well as anyone else who are looking at top organisations in the sports industry.
The sessions were extremely insightful and personalised in nature, unlike most other sessions I had been to in the past. Ample time was provided by Reuben to understand my concerns about my resume and cover letter preparation, which helped me focus on details which I had earlier missed out.
The real-life job scenarios shared with me were also helpful as it helped me gauge the general sense of skills and experience top employers look for these days, and how to highlight these in my job application. The Interview session was quite helpful too as it made me work on my overall communication and presentation skills in an in-depth yet seamless manner.
I remember how I was able to land a contract with Kayo immediately after the sessions I had with Reuben. Following, I also landed a few more interviews with top state sport organisations - again, thanks to a solid application letter which Reuben's involvement helped me put together.
Reuben's sessions also came in handy whenever I networked with other professionals in the industry, with one such experience leading to a contract with Cricket Australia.
