“Most people die at 27, we just bury them at 72” - Mark Twain
On the Monday after my final exam, I started a dream job on the commercial team at Cricket Australia.
To know that 5 years of uni across 3 degrees (yes, I'm a dropout), volunteering, and networking had paid off was a huge relief. I wanted my career to have a purpose, and sport meant avoiding any old office job that made someone else rich.
Suddenly, I was thrown into the biggest moments in sport, on the field of the MCG on Boxing Day, part of the T20 World Cup, and surrounded by like-minded colleagues - I’d found my people.
Pretty soon, people asked me how they can get a dream job too, so I helped them, and I LOVED it.
So I went all in.
This is why I started SportsGrad, to help people wake up excited every day, doing what they love in sport.
I’m also an advocate for survivors of Sexual Assault.
Whilst I loved working at Cricket Australia, unfortunately, I was assaulted after a staff party.
In 2023, the case reached a trial and delivered a guilty verdict.
Since then it’s added new meaning to helping fill the sports industry with high-quality people.
Other than that, you’ll find me running, cycling, travelling for sport around the world (usually in my Hawthorn FC kit!), or down on the Great Ocean Road.
The opportunity to network with other members is fantastic and you have the chance to learn so much which can support in upskilling e.g. job applications, LinkedIn, local sport ideas
I feel more confident applying for positions within the sports industry. SportsGrad is a fantastic platform for young sports industry professionals to collaborate in a like-minded community
You've got nothing to lose, and everything to gain. You are bound to gain some knowledge that will help you no matter the stage of your career you are in
A highly valuable product for members with regular webinars, discussion boards, Q&As etc. I have learnt how to tailor CV's and cover letters better, sell myself more than I thought I could
Without the SportsGrad Community, I wouldn't have known the role at CA was open and have missed out. It was a lifelong dream come true to move to Australia and work in Australian Cricket.
It's where I saw my Customer Service role advertised. However, SportsGrad has shown me so many skills through webinars and resources
SportsGrad supercharges your development. It’s one big community helping and pushing each other to be better in their professional careers.
Since joining I feel more supported, connected, confident, motivated and determined, also a strong sense of validation in my career path.
It's the networks you get. You never know when you're going to need to ask them a question
I now feel like I can network with anyone in the industry, plus it gives me confidence to apply for more roles than I thought possible.
